Rs 96.73 Lakh Collected: Over 32,000 E-Challans Cleared on Day One of Fine Concession Scheme

On the first day of the Fine Concession Scheme launched by the State government, more than 32,000 pending traffic e-challan cases were settled, with the Police Department collecting ₹96.73 lakh through various payment modes.

The scheme, which came into effect on Sunday, offers a 50% rebate on pending traffic e-challans registered by the police. The initiative is aimed at encouraging motorists to clear long-pending fines and improve compliance with traffic regulations.

The police reported a significant response from the public, with a large number of vehicle owners taking advantage of the concession to settle their dues. The collected amount was received through prescribed modes of payment, including online and offline channels.

The scheme is part of broader efforts to streamline traffic enforcement and reduce the backlog of unresolved challans. Officials stated that the concession period would continue for a limited duration, and urged all motorists with pending fines to avail the benefit.
