India and Australia Deepen Strategic Partnership Amid Global Uncertainty

Prime Minister Narendra Modi joined his Australian counterpart, Anthony Albanese, at the India-Australia CEO Forum and Economic Roadmap Business Reception in Melbourne on Thursday. The event is part of efforts to bolster bilateral trade and strategic relations during the second leg of Mr. Modi's three-nation visit.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Modi said: 'The presence of all of you is a symbol of our shared confidence and shared aspirations. Today, the world is going through a period of uncertainty, supply chain disruptions, and an energy crisis. At such a time, it is both natural and necessary for India and Australia to move forward as natural and trusted partners. Over the past few years, we have built a strong framework for future cooperation by combining the capabilities of both countries.'

The Prime Minister arrived in Australia on Wednesday after concluding his visit to Indonesia. He was accorded a grand reception by the Indian diaspora in Melbourne, with cultural performances highlighting the ties between the two nations.

A key highlight was a presentation of 'Maa Tujhe Salaam' by the Australian-Indian Orchestra. Sharing a clip on social media platform X, Mr. Modi described the performance as 'wonderful' and noted how music deepens the connection between citizens. He added that the rendition underscored the global appeal of Vande Mataram, especially as India celebrates the 150th anniversary of the song.

Mr. Modi also witnessed a musical fusion of the traditional Australian didgeridoo and the Indian tabla, performed by Ron Murray and Dr. Sam Evans. He stated that the performance reflected the cultural bond between the countries and commended the musicians for preserving their art forms. Additionally, he watched a Kathak recital, noting the growing presence of Indian classical dance in Australia.

During the three-day visit, the two Prime Ministers are scheduled to discuss defence and security, trade and investment, education, mobility, critical technologies, sports, and people-to-people relations. Following his engagements in Australia, Mr. Modi will travel to New Zealand for the final leg of his trip.

Bitcoin Holds Near $62,000 as ETF Inflows Improve but Confirmation Still Missing

Bitcoin steadied near $62,000 on July 9 after a volatile start to the week, with traders remaining defensive as the broader crypto market capitalisation stood at $2.14 trillion. Technical indicators show a short-term recovery structure, but confirmation is still missing, and macroeconomic factors like the upcoming U.S. CPI data and Federal Reserve meeting are key swing factors. ETF inflows improved in early July but remain uneven, and on-chain signals are mixed, with long-term holders accumulating but near-term volatility risks persisting.
