Yellow Alert in Delhi: More Rain Predicted After Waterlogging
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Delhi on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, after heavy rains caused waterlogging in several parts of the city. Light to moderate rainfall is expected at isolated places, with a generally cloudy sky forecast.
Relative humidity stood at 92% at 8:30 a.m. The maximum temperature is likely to be around 32°C, while the minimum temperature settled at 25.7°C, 1.6 degrees below normal. Station-wise data showed minimum temperatures below normal across the city: Palam 24.4°C (2.7 notches below), Lodhi Road 25.2°C (0.8 notch below), Ridge 22.5°C (three notches below), and Ayanagar 24.4°C (1.6 notches below).
In the 24 hours ending at 8:30 a.m., rainfall recorded at key stations included Safdarjung 57.6 mm, Lodhi Road 68.8 mm, Ayanagar 51.5 mm, Ridge 40.6 mm, and Palam 27.8 mm. The city's Air Quality Index (AQI) was 71, falling in the 'satisfactory' category, according to the Central Pollution Control Board. The AQI scale ranges from 'good' (0-50) to 'severe' (401-500).
The yellow alert advises residents to stay updated and take precautions as waterlogging may disrupt traffic and daily activities in low-lying areas.
