U.S. Tops Global Influence Ranking, India at 16th: Report
A new report by U.S. News & World Report has ranked the world's most influential countries, with the United States securing the top position, followed by China and Russia. India has been placed 16th, reflecting its growing but still limited global clout.
The ranking, part of the broader 'Best Countries' study, evaluates countries based on their international influence, which includes factors such as economic strength, military power, diplomatic alliances, and cultural appeal. The report emphasizes that influence goes beyond financial metrics, incorporating soft power and global engagement.
According to the study, the top 10 most influential countries are: 1. United States, 2. China, 3. Russia, 4. United Kingdom, 5. Germany, 6. France, 7. Japan, 8. Saudi Arabia, 9. South Korea, and 10. United Arab Emirates.
India's 16th position places it behind countries like Brazil (12th), Canada (13th), and Australia (14th), but ahead of nations like Switzerland (17th) and Turkey (18th). The report notes that India's influence is driven by its large population, growing economy, and strategic partnerships, but it faces challenges in areas like infrastructure and governance.
The U.S. News ranking is based on a survey of nearly 20,000 people from 36 countries, measuring perceptions of a country's power and influence. The methodology considers both hard power (military and economic) and soft power (culture, diplomacy, and political values).
The report aims to provide a comprehensive view of global dynamics, helping policymakers, businesses, and citizens understand the shifting landscape of international influence.
