Telangana CM Challenges Opposition to Legislative Debate on Government Performance
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has challenged opposition parties to a debate in the state legislature on the performance of his 30-month administration, the previous Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) government led by K. Chandrashekhar Rao, and the BJP-led government at the Centre. Speaking at a public meeting in Nalgonda after inaugurating several development projects, Reddy said he was ready to discuss development and welfare initiatives during special sessions of the Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council, and urged opposition parties to write to the Speaker and Council Chairman to convene such sessions.
Reddy also reiterated his commitment to completing the Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) project before the next elections and pledged to undertake the rejuvenation of the Musi River at any cost. He warned that any obstruction to the Musi project would be dealt with firmly.
Continuing his criticism of the previous BRS government, Reddy alleged that the regime had left the state burdened with debts of ₹8.11 lakh crore over ten years. He dismissed the BRS's hopes of returning to power, stating that it was the family, not the people, that wanted power again. He claimed that the BRS had lost public support and had been socially boycotted by Telangana society.
Reddy praised leaders of the Telangana movement, including Konda Laxman Bapuji and Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, for their sacrifices.
Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, speaking at the same event, highlighted that unprecedented funds had been allocated for road development across the state. He noted that the Chief Minister recently laid the foundation for HAM roads worth ₹13,000 crore, with additional allocations of ₹13,000 crore under the Central Road and Infrastructure Fund (CRIF) and ₹10,000 crore from other budgetary provisions. Vikramarka lauded Minister Venkat Reddy for launching road construction works worth nearly ₹23,000 crore, stating that total investments in road infrastructure, including central and state schemes, amounted to nearly ₹90,000 crore, laying a strong foundation for Telangana's growth. Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy also addressed the meeting.
