Tamil Nadu government reshuffles top IAS officers in major bureaucratic overhaul

The Tamil Nadu government has issued a significant bureaucratic reshuffle, transferring several senior IAS officers across key departments. The move affects top officials in power distribution, environment, information technology, and higher education, among others.

J. Radhakrishnan, formerly Additional Chief Secretary and Chairman & Managing Director of Tamil Nadu Power Distribution Corporation, has been appointed Director of the Anna Administrative Staff College. He will also serve as Director General of Training, replacing C. Samayamoorthy who held additional charge.

Supriya Sahu, previously Additional Chief Secretary for Environment, Climate Change and Forests, has been posted as Additional Chief Secretary and Commissioner of the Entrepreneurship Development and Innovation Institute. She is succeeded by Kakarla Usha, who was Additional Chief Secretary for Public and Rehabilitation.

In the information technology and industry sectors, Pradeep Yadav, Additional Chief Secretary for IT and Digital Services, transfers to become Additional Chief Secretary for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises. He replaces Atul Anand, who moves to the IT portfolio.

Dheeraj Kumar, earlier Additional Chief Secretary and Commissioner of the Entrepreneurship Development and Innovation Institute, takes over as Additional Chief Secretary for Higher Education, replacing V. Arun Roy. Roy now becomes Chairman and Managing Director of Tamil Nadu Power Distribution Corporation, and will also head Tamil Nadu Power Generation Corporation, Tamil Nadu Transmission Corporation, and Tamil Nadu Green Energy Corporation.

Other changes include E. Sundaravalli as Secretary for Public and Rehabilitation, Nirmal Raj as Secretary for Transport, and P. Umanath as Industries Commissioner and Director of Industries and Commerce. Sigy Thomas Vaidhyan is posted as Principal Secretary and Commissioner for Transport and Road Safety, while R. Gajalakshmi becomes Commissioner of Prohibition and Excise.

The reshuffle also includes transfers in social welfare, art and culture, and land administration departments, reflecting the state's administrative adjustments.
