Man from Pakistan-administered Kashmir held near Line of Control

A man from Pakistan-administered Kashmir was apprehended by Indian security forces near the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir, officials said on Monday.

The individual, identified as a resident of the Neelum Valley in Pakistan-administered Kashmir, was found in a forward area in the Kupwara district. He was taken into custody for questioning after being spotted by troops patrolling the border.

According to defence officials, the man was unarmed and appeared to have crossed the LoC inadvertently. He is being interrogated to ascertain his intentions and whether he had any links with militant groups.

The incident highlights the ongoing tensions along the de facto border, which has witnessed several ceasefire violations and infiltration attempts in recent months. Security forces remain on high alert to prevent any cross-border activities.

The man is being held at an undisclosed location and will be dealt with according to standard operating procedures, officials added. Further details are awaited.
