Madhya Pradesh TET to Be Held Both Online and Offline, CM Announces
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Saturday announced that the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) will now be held in both online and offline modes. He made the statement while addressing the state-level Teacher Honour Ceremony at the RCVP Noronha Academy of Administration and Management in Bhopal, organised on the occasion of Teachers' Day.
Yadav said the decision reflects the government's commitment to supporting teaching professionals. "Our government is committed to taking all necessary decisions that can improve the situation for teachers. The Teacher Eligibility Test (TET), being conducted on the directions of the Supreme Court, will be held in offline mode," he said.
The School Education Department of Madhya Pradesh also shared a video of the chief minister's announcement on X. In the video, Yadav said, "We are continuously working to further improve the quality of education in the state. In this direction, it has been decided to conduct the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) both online and offline."
The TET is a compulsory qualifying examination for individuals seeking teaching posts in schools. The state government currently conducts the test online. With the latest announcement, candidates will also have the option of appearing in an offline examination, in addition to the existing mode.
Speaking about the quality of education, Yadav said the state government is making efforts based on recommendations from the School Education Department. "Our government schools will be better than private schools," he stated.
The chief minister emphasised the crucial role of teachers in shaping the country's future. He said their contribution cannot be measured only through examination results. "The map of the country is drawn on paper, but the destiny of the country is shaped by our teachers in classrooms. Our teachers and gurus are the masters of these classrooms," he said.
Yadav added that a teacher's greatest satisfaction comes from seeing students succeed and go ahead of their mentors.
Governor Mangubhai Patel, who also addressed the gathering, said education is not restricted to textbooks. He stressed that it must evolve to meet global requirements and changing employment opportunities. He encouraged teachers to identify the talents of students and help them grow according to their interests.
During the ceremony, Chief Minister Yadav and Governor Patel honoured 33 teachers from different parts of the state for their outstanding contributions. Yadav assured the gathering that the government respects the hard work of teachers and will continue to take decisions that improve their working conditions.
Yadav also highlighted the achievement of government schools, saying that over 50 per cent of students who appear in merit lists of board examinations are from government schools. He credited this to the contribution of government school teachers.
Teachers' Day is observed across India on September 5 each year, marking the birth anniversary of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, a prominent philosopher and India's former President. The Bhopal ceremony was part of the nationwide celebrations honouring teachers.
