Indian Students Strike Gold at International Chemistry Olympiad, Bag Four Medals

Indian high school students continued their impressive run at international science Olympiads, winning four gold medals at the 58th International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO) held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. The event concluded on July 19.

The Indian team tied with teams from China and Vietnam, as well as an individual participant from Russia. The gold medallists are Debadatta Priyadarshi from Bhubaneswar, Harshit Singhal from Mandi Gobindgarh, Kabeer Chhillar from Delhi, and Sandeep Kuchi from Hyderabad.

For Priyadarshi and Kuchi, this marks their second podium finish at the IChO. In the previous edition, Kuchi won a gold medal while Priyadarshi took silver. The other Indian medallists in that edition were Devesh Bhaiya (gold) and Ujjwal Kesari (silver).

The Chemistry Olympiad is part of a series of international competitions for pre-university students. India's consistent performance reflects the strength of its science education and the dedication of its young learners.
