IMD Upgrades Mumbai Rain Alert to Orange; Palghar on Red Alert for 24 Hours

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an orange alert for Mumbai and the neighbouring districts of Thane and Palghar on Thursday morning, indicating very heavy rainfall accompanied by gusty winds reaching speeds of 60 to 70 km per hour.

According to the IMD advisory, the heavy rain and strong winds are expected to continue in the financial capital and its surrounding areas until 8:30 am on Friday, July 24. While Mumbai and Thane remain under orange alert, Palghar district faces a more severe red alert for the next 24 hours. The red alert signifies extremely heavy rainfall at isolated places, along with occasional strong winds.

The IMD urges residents to take necessary precautions, avoid unnecessary travel, and stay updated with official weather bulletins. Local authorities have been advised to remain vigilant and prepare for possible waterlogging and disruption of essential services.
