Hyderabad Raid: ₹1.6 Cr Banned Synthetic Drug Seized, Chemical Firm Accused

A man has been arrested and over 5 kg of the banned synthetic drug N-Benzylpiperazine, valued at approximately ₹1.6 crore, was seized during a raid at a chemical trading company in Hyderabad on Tuesday.

The raid was conducted at the premises of Haima Synthesis Private Limited in Nacharam by a joint team of the Excise State Task Force and the Drug Control Administration.

During the inspection, officials discovered that N-Benzylpiperazine, a psychotropic substance prohibited under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, was allegedly being sold from the premises. A total of 5.860 kg of the substance was confiscated.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the banned synthetic drug was being sourced from Gujarat and supplied to Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Mumbai.

A case has been registered against Mudigonda Eshwar, who is associated with Haima Synthesis Private Limited, for the sale of the prohibited substance. The accused and the seized drugs have been handed over to the Nacharam Excise Station for further legal proceedings.

Officials stated that N-Benzylpiperazine is a controlled psychotropic substance under the NDPS Act, and any unauthorised manufacture, possession, purchase, sale, or transportation of the drug is a punishable offence.

Further investigation is underway.
