EAM Jaishankar begins 6-nation tour to Gulf, US, Belgium from July 5

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar will embark on a six-nation tour covering Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Belgium and the United States starting Sunday, July 5, 2026, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) announced.

From July 5 to 10, Mr. Jaishankar will visit four Gulf nations. The MEA stated that the visit aims to enhance bilateral relations and exchange views on regional developments and issues of mutual interest. The tour comes amid evolving political dynamics in West Asia following the peace agreement between the U.S. and Iran.

After concluding his engagements in the Gulf, Mr. Jaishankar will travel to New York on July 13 to launch India's official campaign for a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council for the 2028-29 term.

In the final leg, he will visit Brussels on July 14-15 to attend the third India-EU Trade and Technology Council (TTC) meeting, where he will interact with his EU and Belgian counterparts. The TTC, established in 2022, facilitates exchange in critical technologies including artificial intelligence, quantum computing, semiconductors and cybersecurity.

Trump's NATO Summit exit: Three-plane switch amid reported Iranian threat

U.S. President Donald Trump left the NATO Summit in Türkiye using a complex three-aircraft switch after intelligence reported a credible Iranian threat and a man with a shoulder-fired missile.
