CBI Finds No Evidence Against Sanjeev Mukhiya in NEET-UG 2024 Paper Leak Case

New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has stated that it found no evidence linking Sanjeev Kumar, also known as Sanjeev Mukhiya, to the theft or distribution of the NEET-UG 2024 question paper. Mukhiya was initially named as an accused in the First Information Report (FIR) filed by Bihar Police following the paper leak.

The CBI said in a statement that Bihar Police had named Mukhiya in the FIR, citing his alleged involvement in other examination paper leak cases. However, after the case was handed over to the federal agency, a detailed investigation was conducted to identify all those involved in the theft, distribution, and use of the stolen question paper.

The agency filed multiple chargesheets against 45 accused before a Patna court but did not include Mukhiya, as no evidence was found to establish his role in the conspiracy. “Mukhiya remained absconding during the relevant period and was later arrested by Bihar Police. Since he was named in the FIR, the CBI took him into police custody for examination. However, no evidence of his involvement emerged during the investigation,” the CBI said.

As a result, Mukhiya was granted bail in the NEET-UG 2024 case. The CBI noted that he remains in judicial custody in connection with other cases being investigated by Bihar Police. The agency maintained that its investigation identified the entire conspiracy behind the NEET-UG 2024 paper theft and ensured that all those responsible were brought to justice.
