X Deploys Grok AI to Combat Content Theft, Redirects Revenue to Original Creators
X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, has announced stricter enforcement of its creator monetization rules, targeting users who repost others' content without permission or use engagement bait to inflate earnings. The platform now relies on its latest Grok AI model to identify copied posts more effectively.
In a statement released on July 16, X said that the newest version of Grok can detect duplicated content three times faster than its predecessor, making it more difficult for creators to profit from reposting someone else's work. The system identifies not only copied videos but also viral text posts that are reposted without proper credit.
According to Nikita Bier, X's head of product, creators who attempt to disguise stolen content by adding watermarks, intros, or other edits will no longer benefit from the views generated by those posts. Revenue generated from such reposted content will now be redirected to the original creators.
The move is part of X's broader effort to maintain platform integrity and ensure that content creators are fairly compensated for their original work. Engagement bait — posts designed to provoke responses rather than provide value — is also targeted under the updated rules.
