IndiGo booking system hit by glitches again, services restored after disruption
IndiGo, the country’s largest airline, faced intermittent issues with its ticket booking system on Friday (August 21, 2026), causing temporary difficulty for customers trying to access online services. This was the second such instance during the week, following a similar disruption on Wednesday (August 19, 2026).
The airline acknowledged the problem in a message on its website, stating, “We are currently experiencing intermittent issues with our core reservation platform, which may make it difficult for some customers to access our online services.” It added that teams were working on priority along with the partner to resolve the issue as quickly as possible and regretted the inconvenience caused.
An official later confirmed that the issues had been resolved and the system was functioning normally. The airline operates on the Navitaire reservation system, which is used by several airlines globally.
IndiGo operates around 2,200 flights daily, connecting numerous domestic and international destinations. In July, the carrier flew 80.82 lakh passengers on domestic routes, holding a market share of 67.4 per cent.
The earlier disruption on Wednesday was also communicated via a post on X, where the airline mentioned intermittent issues with its core reservation platform. The recurrence of such technical glitches raises questions about the robustness of the airline’s digital infrastructure, which is critical for its vast passenger base.
The December 2025 incident, which led to massive flight disruptions and subsequent regulatory actions, had already put the airline’s operational resilience under scrutiny. While Friday’s issue was brief and did not escalate to flight cancellations, it underscores the importance of reliable booking systems in maintaining customer trust.
Passengers were advised to keep checking the airline’s official website and app for updates during the glitch period. The airline’s quick response and resolution indicate that the problem was contained, but the repeated nature of such outages may call for a deeper review of its reservation platform’s stability.
As one of the largest carriers in the region, IndiGo’s operational efficiency is closely watched by both regulators and travellers. The airline has not disclosed any long-term impact from Friday’s issue, and normal services have resumed.
