BEL, Ananth Technologies sign MoU to co-develop defence and aerospace electronics
BENGALURU: Ananth Technologies and Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to jointly develop and manufacture advanced electronic systems for defence and aerospace applications. The move is aimed at expanding India's indigenous capabilities in strategic technologies.
Under the agreement, the two companies will explore opportunities to develop systems and subsystems for missiles, radars, satellites, and navigation systems, the companies said in a statement on Wednesday.
The collaboration will cover the entire technology chain, including design and development, system engineering, electronics manufacturing, integration, testing, and production. The partnership brings together the complementary capabilities of the two firms.
BEL, a Navratna public sector undertaking under the Ministry of Defence, has extensive experience in developing and manufacturing electronic systems for the armed forces. Ananth Technologies, with more than three decades of experience, works in aerospace and defence electronics, satellite systems, launch vehicle avionics, navigation technologies, and advanced manufacturing.
Ananth Technologies Managing Director Anurup Pavuluri said the partnership would focus on indigenous design, development, manufacturing, and integration for current and future strategic programmes.
The agreement comes as India seeks to expand domestic manufacturing of sophisticated defence and aerospace systems and reduce reliance on imported technologies. The companies said their collaboration would contribute to strengthening the country's aerospace and defence industrial ecosystem.
Ananth Technologies has capabilities spanning satellite systems, missile electronics, navigation systems, radio-frequency and seeker technologies, aerospace electronics manufacturing, and system integration. It works with India's space and defence establishments on strategic programmes.
BEL manufactures electronic systems for the Army, Navy, and Air Force. It has also expanded into areas including space electronics, satellite integration, cyber security, railways and metro systems, and homeland security.
The MoU is a non-binding agreement that outlines the intent to cooperate. Further details on specific projects or investments were not disclosed.
