Telangana to expand skilling initiatives, seeks industry partnership for AI-era workforce

Emphasising the need for a coordinated approach to address the rapidly changing skill requirements driven by technology and artificial intelligence (AI), Telangana's IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu said the government, industry, research institutions and educational institutions must work closely to make the youth industry-ready.

Speaking at a certificate distribution programme organised by Boeing, Learning Links Foundation (LLF) and the Central Institute of Tool Design (CITD) on Wednesday, the Minister highlighted the importance of stakeholders joining hands with the State government in strengthening Telangana's skilling ecosystem and building a future-ready workforce.

The event saw the distribution of certificates to youth, persons with disabilities and veterans who successfully completed the Boeing Skilling Programme. Mr. Sridhar Babu said the government was working to equip Telangana's youth with skills aligned with changing industry requirements and emerging technologies.

The Minister said the government was readying plans to expand skill development programmes across the State in partnership with industries and entrepreneurs. He urged industries to come forward and participate in the government's skilling, upskilling and reskilling initiatives. The objective, he said, was to create a workforce equipped to meet the evolving needs of industry and enable youth to take advantage of emerging opportunities.

In a release issued by the Minister's office, it was noted that the Young India Skills University was providing training aligned with industry needs. Additionally, government ITIs were being transformed into Advanced Technology Centres to offer modern, industry-oriented training.

The Minister's remarks come at a time when technological advancements, particularly in AI, are transforming industries globally. There is a growing recognition that traditional skill sets may become obsolete, and continuous learning and adaptation are essential for both individuals and the economy.
