World Cup Drama: Senegal and Belgium Locked 2-2, Head to Extra Time

Senegal and Belgium are headed to extra time in their World Cup round of 32 clash after playing to a 2-2 scoreline in regulation. The teams will now contest 30 minutes of extra time, divided into two 15-minute halves. If the score remains level after extra time, the match will be decided by a penalty shootout to determine which team advances to the round of 16.

Senegal captain Kalidou Koulibaly was omitted from the starting lineup due to injury. Midfielder Pape Gueye replaced Lamine Camara, while Pathe Ciss started in place of defender Abdoulaye Seck. Up front, Iliman Ndiaye joined Ismaila Sarr and Sadio Mane in attack, with Ibrahim Mbaye available from the bench.

Belgium fielded an unchanged lineup from their previous match, a 5-1 victory over New Zealand. The team finished top of Group G, having drawn with Egypt and Iran in their earlier group stage matches. Belgium's group campaign saw them secure five points, with one win and two draws.

Senegal finished second in Group H, behind group winners Brazil, with four points from a win and a draw. The African champions are aiming to match their best World Cup performance, a quarterfinal appearance in 2002.

The match has been evenly contested, with both sides showing attacking intent. The winner will face the victor of the match between Japan and Sweden in the round of 16.
