Mysuru cyclists pedal to seven medals at Karnataka State Championship

Cyclists from Mysuru district delivered a strong performance at the Karnataka State Cycling Championship, held in Gadag on August 8 and 9, securing a total of seven medals, including three gold, three silver, and one bronze.

The Mysuru District Cycling Association confirmed the medal tally, which came across the Individual Time Trial (ITT) and Mass Start events. The championship saw participation from districts across the state, with Mysuru cyclists demonstrating consistent form in both timed and mass-start categories.

Vyshakh emerged as the standout performer for the district, clinching two gold medals—one in the ITT and one in the Mass Start event. His victories underscored his versatility and endurance, according to Association Secretary Lokesh Narasimhachar.

Dhananjay added another gold for Mysuru by finishing first in the Mass Start event, while Charith secured silver medals in both the ITT and Mass Start events. Naga Siri contributed a silver in the Mass Start event, and Karen rounded off the medal haul with a bronze in the Mass Start event.

The results reflect the growing strength of cycling in Mysuru, which has consistently produced competitive riders at the state level. Narasimhachar noted that the achievements were the outcome of sustained training and support from the association and local sponsors.

The Karnataka State Cycling Championship serves as a key qualifying platform for national-level competitions. Performances in such events are crucial for cyclists aiming to represent the state and the country in higher tournaments.

With this medal tally, Mysuru district has reinforced its position as one of the leading cycling hubs in Karnataka. The association expressed optimism about the future, hoping that more young cyclists from the district will be inspired to take up the sport and achieve excellence at the national stage.
