Three key aides removed from Union Minister Bhupender Yadav's office

In an unusual series of administrative actions, three close aides of Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Bhupender Yadav, have been removed from their positions. The decisions were announced in separate orders issued by the ministry on July 3.

According to the orders, Private Secretary Amar Singh, an Indian Revenue Service officer of the 2010 batch, has been repatriated to his parent cadre, the Department of Revenue, on 'administrative grounds' with immediate effect. Additionally, an Additional Private Secretary has been 'prematurely repatriated', and the appointment of another Additional Private Secretary has been 'terminated'.

The specific reasons for these removals have not been disclosed. The ministry's orders cite 'administrative grounds' for the repatriation of Amar Singh, but do not elaborate further. The Indian Express attempted to contact senior ministry officials for comment but received no response.

Such simultaneous changes in the personal staff of a minister are considered rare. Personal staff, including private secretaries, are typically appointed on a tenure basis and serve at the pleasure of the minister. The repatriation or termination of their services can occur for various reasons, including performance issues, disciplinary matters, or administrative convenience.

This development comes amid ongoing scrutiny of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, which handles critical issues such as environmental clearances, forest conservation, and climate change policy. Minister Bhupender Yadav is a senior leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party and holds additional charge of the Ministry of Labour and Employment.

As with any administrative reshuffle, the departures raise questions about the reasons behind the decisions. However, without official clarification, it remains unclear whether these moves are routine or indicative of larger concerns within the minister's office.
