Sony launches Bravia Theatre Trio, Bar 7, Bar 5 in India: Prices start at Rs 82,990

Sony India has expanded its home entertainment lineup with the launch of the Bravia Theatre Trio, a wireless home theatre system designed for ultra-large screens, along with two new soundbars — the Bravia Theatre Bar 7 and Bar 5. The products were unveiled on June 24, 2025, at an event in New Delhi.

The Bravia Theatre Trio consists of left, centre, and right speakers and is tailored for screens larger than 75-80 inches. Developed in collaboration with Sony Pictures, it aims to provide a cinema-like audio experience. The system uses Sony's 360 Spatial Sound Mapping technology, which calibrates to the room and creates up to 24 direct and indirect phantom speakers, forming a dome-like sound field. It supports Dolby Atmos, DTS, and IMAX Enhanced.

Sony also introduced the Bravia Theatre Bar 7 and Bar 5 soundbars, along with two subwoofers (Sub 9 and Sub 8) and two rear speaker models (Rear 9 and Rear 8). The Trio system can be paired with optional Sub 9 subwoofers and Rear 9 rear speakers for a more immersive setup, but these are sold separately.

According to Sony India managing director Sunil Nayyar, India is a fast-growing market for large-screen TVs, driven by consumers' desire for cinematic experiences and the growth of OTT content. He said the company aims to increase its market share in the premium home theatre category (above Rs 60,000) to over 35 per cent. Sony already leads in entry-level and mid-range segments, with the Bravia Theatre System 6 capturing 52 per cent market share in its category.

The Bravia Theatre Bar 7 houses nine speaker units, including up-firing and side-firing speakers, along with four passive radiators. It features 360 Spatial Sound Mapping and supports Dolby Atmos and IMAX Enhanced. It is priced at Rs 82,990 and will be available from July 1, 2025.

The Bravia Theatre Bar 5 is a 3.1-channel system with a dedicated centre speaker and a wireless subwoofer. It uses Sony's Vertical Surround Engine to create a virtual surround sound environment. Pricing and availability details for the Bar 5 were not specified in the announcement.

The Bravia Theatre Trio is priced at Rs 1,69,900 and will be available from July 1, 2025, at Sony retail stores and on Amazon.
