Shashi Tharoor Urges Sonam Wangchuk to End Hunger Strike, Calls for Government Dialogue

Congress MP Shashi Tharoor has appealed to activist Sonam Wangchuk to end his 18-day hunger strike at Jantar Mantar, urging the government to open talks with protesting students.

In an open letter addressed to the protesters, led by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), Tharoor expressed deep concern over the situation. Wangchuk, a prominent education and climate activist from Ladakh, has been fasting to demand the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over alleged irregularities in national-level examinations.

Tharoor noted that Parliament is set to reconvene on Monday, providing a democratic platform to raise the students' concerns. “That’s where the problem should be addressed, not by fasting unto death. Please heed my plea,” he wrote on social media platform X.

The activist's hunger strike has drawn attention to the broader issue of examination integrity in India. The government has not yet responded to Tharoor's call for engagement.
