PM Modi Conferred with Indonesia's Highest Honour During State Visit
Prime Minister Narendra Modi was awarded the 'Bintang Adipurna of the Republic of Indonesia', the nation's highest civilian honour, during his official state visit to Jakarta on Tuesday. The ceremony took place at the Presidential Palace after a grand ceremonial welcome, which included a military escort and a traditional dance performance.
The visit, at the invitation of Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, marks the first bilateral meeting between the two leaders since India and Indonesia elevated their relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2018. Discussions are expected to focus on enhancing defence cooperation, maritime security, and economic ties.
Defence relations between the two countries have deepened in recent years, highlighted by joint military exercises and Indonesia's acquisition of BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles. The visit aims to further strengthen this partnership and explore new areas of collaboration.
