MP at NICDIT meet: 30% of GIS investment proposals now being implemented
New Delhi, August 17: Chief Minister Mohan Yadav represented Madhya Pradesh at the third meeting of the Apex Monitoring Authority of the National Industrial Corridor Development and Implementation Trust (NICDIT) held in New Delhi on Monday. The meeting was chaired by Union Finance and Corporate Affairs Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and attended by Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal, NITI Aayog Vice Chairman Ashok Kumar Lahiri, and Chief Ministers and industry ministers from several states.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, Mr. Yadav said that Madhya Pradesh has created a conducive investment environment and won the confidence of industry. He claimed that nearly 30% of the investment proposals received at the Global Investors Summit (GIS) held in the state are now being grounded on the ground. “The Madhya Pradesh government has won the confidence of investors, which is why a large number of investors are investing in the state,” he said.
The Chief Minister highlighted the PM MITRA Park, whose foundation stone was laid on September 17, 2025, on the birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. According to Mr. Yadav, the project is expected to give a fresh impetus to the textile sector and create extensive opportunities for farmers, youth and industries. He said the state is placing special emphasis on strengthening industrial infrastructure, improving connectivity, ensuring land availability, developing skilled human resources, and promoting investment-friendly policies.
Mr. Yadav said that Madhya Pradesh has received major investment proposals across various sectors, including textiles, pharmaceuticals, automobiles, energy, logistics, agro-based industries and MSMEs. He said the government is working to simplify procedures for industries, strengthen the ease of doing business and provide investors with necessary facilities so that proposals can be implemented in a time-bound manner.
The Chief Minister also acknowledged the role of central government initiatives, including national industrial corridors, in accelerating industrial development across the country. He said these projects will play an important role in strengthening industrial infrastructure, attracting investment and creating employment opportunities in Madhya Pradesh.
The NICDIT Apex Monitoring Authority meeting is part of a broader effort to review and monitor the implementation of industrial corridor projects across states. The participation of multiple Chief Ministers and industry ministers underscores the importance of coordinated action between the centre and states for industrial growth.
While Mr. Yadav’s statements reflect the state’s optimism, independent verification of the investment grounding figures was not available at the time of reporting. Madhya Pradesh has been among states competing to attract investment through business summits and policy reforms. The state government has previously announced targets for job creation and industrial output, but actual implementation and outcomes have varied.
The meeting also comes against the backdrop of the central government’s push for manufacturing and infrastructure development as part of the National Industrial Corridor Programme, which aims to create smart industrial cities with plug-and-play infrastructure. Madhya Pradesh is one of the states identified for corridor development, and the PM MITRA Park is a key part of this strategy.
Industry experts note that the success of such initiatives depends on land acquisition, regulatory clearances, and availability of utilities. The state’s focus on simplifying procedures and easing doing business is intended to address some of these challenges. However, tangible results will be measured by the pace of project commissioning and employment generation.
As Madhya Pradesh moves ahead with its industrial agenda, the coming months will reveal whether the investor confidence cited by the Chief Minister translates into sustained economic activity and local development.
