Madurai textile firms get global stage at upcoming international machinery expo
Representatives of the Madurai textile industry have been invited to participate in the India International Textile Machinery Exhibition (ITME), a global platform set to feature participation from 95 countries. The announcement came during a discussion held in Madurai on Friday, aimed at encouraging local industry players to explore opportunities at the exhibition.
The meeting was attended by N. Jegatheesan, president of the Tamil Nadu Chamber of Commerce and Industry; V. Senthil Kumar, president of the Madurai District Tiny and Small Scale Industries Association (MADITSSIA); and representatives from industrial firms and the textile sector across Madurai and neighbouring cities. The event served as a briefing for local entrepreneurs on the benefits of participating in the international exhibition.
The India International Textile Machinery Exhibition is scheduled to take place in Noida from December 4 to 9. According to organisers, the event will showcase the latest technological advancements and modern machinery in the textile sector. With representatives from 95 countries and over 1,800 exhibitors, the exhibition will display a wide range of modern technologies and machinery, making it one of the largest textile machinery events in the region.
The exhibition will highlight innovations in automation, artificial intelligence, digitalisation, environmental sustainability, and technologies designed to boost productivity, according to a press release. These areas are increasingly critical for the textile industry, which is undergoing rapid transformation globally. For Indian textile manufacturers, particularly those in traditional hubs like Madurai, such exhibitions offer a chance to understand and adopt new technologies that can enhance efficiency and competitiveness.
Madurai has long been recognised as a significant textile centre in Tamil Nadu, with a strong base of spinning mills, weaving units, and garment manufacturing.
