Mangaluru Police Detain 3 Suspected Undocumented Bangladeshi Migrants, Question 11 Others
Mangaluru city police on July 13 detained three individuals suspected of being undocumented migrants from Bangladesh at Kuntikana, during a targeted search for foreign nationals residing without valid documents. Additionally, authorities are questioning 11 other suspected undocumented migrants found in the Kodical area.
Acting on a tip-off, a team from Urwa police station visited a construction site in Kuntikana and interrogated three individuals. After verifying their records, police confirmed they were from Bangladesh and lacked valid immigration documents.
In a separate operation, a police team searched a construction site in Kodical and identified 11 suspected undocumented migrants. Police stated they are currently verifying the documents of these individuals.
Former councillor of Kodical, Kiran Kumar Kodical, reported that eight Bangladeshi residents were taken by police on July 13 morning for questioning. These individuals had been working as construction labourers in Mangaluru for the past two years and were found to be using fake Aadhaar cards.
Mr. Kodical advised construction firms and other employers to thoroughly check identity documents of workers, warning that more undocumented migrants may be present in the city. "If they are suspicious of any worker, the information should be passed on to the nearest police station," he said.
This operation follows a similar incident on July 9, when Surathkal police detained eight undocumented Bangladeshi migrants working at a construction site. The Foreign Regional Registration Office in Bengaluru has been informed.
