Man Arrested for Hoax Bomb Threat Emailed to ISRO Headquarters

A 36-year-old man from Uttar Pradesh has been arrested in connection with a hoax bomb threat email sent to the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) Antariksh Bhavan in Bengaluru on Thursday. The Bengaluru City Police identified the accused as Nishanth Tyagi, an unemployed man, and stated that he is “mentally ill.”

The arrest followed a complaint filed by an administrative officer of the ISRO headquarters after the threat was deemed a hoax. A special investigation team traced the accused to Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh using technical analysis. Police seized an electronic device from the accused, and examination confirmed that the email was sent by him, according to a police statement.

Meanwhile, a second bomb threat email was sent to the same establishment on Friday, but by a different individual. A senior police officer from the North Division confirmed the second email, noting that a thorough search again declared it a hoax. The same investigation team will handle this case, the officer said.

The police have not disclosed further details about the motive or the mental health status of the accused, and investigations are ongoing.
