Kejriwal alleges E20 petrol reduces mileage, causes vehicle issues; no response from Centre
Arvind Kejriwal, the national convener of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), on Saturday accused the central government of misleading the public about E20 petrol, claiming that the ethanol-blended fuel leads to reduced vehicle mileage and mechanical problems.
The former Delhi Chief Minister visited a petrol pump and a service station in Delhi, where he spoke with motorists and vehicle owners to assess the impact of E20 petrol. "The government is telling white lies. Due to E20, vehicles are indeed facing problems. The mileage of almost all vehicles has decreased, and there are complaints of malfunctions in many vehicles," Mr. Kejriwal said.
Mr. Kejriwal also criticised the government for its response to critics of the fuel. "For the past few days, I have been observing that anyone in the country who opposes E20-blended petrol is being abused by ministers in this government. They are being called anti-nationals, traitors, agents of the petrol lobby, unemployed social activists, and several other names. I want to tell Prime Minister Narendra Modi such arrogance is not appropriate," he said. "It is the government's duty to hear their grievances and address them."
As of the time of reporting, there was no immediate response from the central government or the Bharatiya Janata Party to Mr. Kejriwal's allegations.
