Karnataka Police Arrest Pakistani Woman and Son for Visa Overstay and Illegal Document Possession
The Karnataka Police announced on Saturday the arrest of a Pakistani woman, Farhanaz, and her son, Mohammed Fardeen Khan, for overstaying their visas and illegally obtaining Indian identity documents, including a voter ID card and ration card, without acquiring Indian citizenship.
According to police, the mother and son had been residing in Bagepalli taluk of Chikkaballapur district even after their visas expired. A case was registered based on a complaint filed by Bagepalli Tahsildar Manisha N Patri.
The complaint stated that Farhanaz, who is listed as Mrs. Farhanaz Kom Mohammad Ayub Khan, and her son Mohammad Fardeen, both Pakistani nationals, registered their names in voter and ration cards without obtaining Indian citizenship. Possessing these documents without citizenship is illegal under Indian law, and legal action was sought.
Farhanaz married Ayub Khan, a resident of Dasaragere village, and the couple has two children. The arrest follows standard procedures for visa violations and fraudulent documentation. The accused are expected to be produced before a court for further legal proceedings.
This case highlights the strict enforcement of visa regulations and citizenship laws in India. Overstaying a visa is a violation of the Foreigners Act, and obtaining Indian documents without due process is a serious offence. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are verifying the details of the marriage and the children's status.
