ISRO Hoax Bomb Threat: Sender Identified as Person with Mental Health Condition

Bengaluru Police have resolved the hoax bomb threat case involving the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) Headquarters after tracing the threatening email to Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh.

The suspect, identified through technical and digital evidence, is a person with a mental health condition, police stated on Monday.

The incident occurred on July 2, when ISRO Headquarters (Antariksha Bhavan) on New BEL Road received an email threatening a bomb blast on the premises. Security forces responded immediately, conducting a thorough search of the building. No suspicious items or explosives were found, confirming the threat was a hoax.

Following a complaint from the Administrative Officer of ISRO Headquarters, Sanjaynagar Police registered a case and initiated an investigation. A specialized team was formed to trace the sender using technical analysis and digital forensics.

The investigation led authorities to Ghaziabad, where the individual responsible for sending the email was identified and taken into custody. Police seized the electronic device used to send the threatening message. Forensic examination confirmed that the device was used to transmit the bomb threat email to ISRO Headquarters in Bengaluru.

During the investigation, officials discovered that the accused has a mental health condition. The electronic device has been seized as evidence, and further investigation is ongoing.
