Israeli Airstrike Hits Southern Lebanon Despite Ceasefire Deal
Lebanese state media reported on Monday that Israeli warplanes carried out an airstrike in southern Lebanon, despite a ceasefire framework agreed upon by both nations last week.
The state-run National News Agency said the strike targeted the area between the towns of Qantara and Deir Seryan. No casualties were immediately reported.
The development comes after Israel and Lebanon signed a framework accord last week, which was seen as a step toward a broader peace agreement. The accord aims to end hostilities along the border, which have seen periodic flare-ups.
Neither the Israeli military nor the Lebanese government has officially commented on the reported strike. The incident threatens to undermine the fragile ceasefire arrangement.
