India Dismisses Pakistan's 'Baseless' Allegations in Karachi Incident
India has categorically rejected accusations from Pakistan linking New Delhi to a recent attack in Karachi that resulted in the deaths of four soldiers. The response came after Pakistani officials alleged Indian involvement in the incident.
Randhir Jaiswal, Spokesperson for India's Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), addressed media queries on Sunday, stating: “We have seen Pakistani reports making baseless allegations against India regarding the recent incident in Karachi. We categorically reject them.”
Jaiswal further urged Pakistan to focus on its own internal challenges rather than blaming others. “Instead of pointing fingers at others, Pakistan would do better to look inwards, take credible action against the terror infrastructure on its territory, and rid itself of its proclivity to rely on terrorism as an instrument of state policy,” he said.
The Karachi incident, which occurred earlier this week, involved an attack on a security checkpoint, killing four Pakistani soldiers. Pakistan's government and media have sought to attribute the attack to Indian intelligence agencies, though no concrete evidence has been provided.
India has consistently denied such allegations, maintaining that it does not support or engage in cross-border terrorism. The MEA's statement reinforces India's position that Pakistan should address its own security issues instead of making unsubstantiated claims against its neighbour.
This diplomatic exchange comes amid already strained relations between the two nuclear-armed nations. Analysts note that such accusations often escalate tensions without contributing to resolution of underlying conflicts.
