IIT Bombay Expands to US: First Overseas Sub-Campus at SUNY Old Westbury

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay has announced its first-ever sub-campus outside India, to be established in the United States. This expansion is in collaboration with the State University of New York (SUNY) at Old Westbury, a public university that currently offers programmes in arts, science, and business.

The new sub-campus will focus on emerging fields such as artificial intelligence (AI), sustainability, and clean technology. Initially, certificate courses will be offered starting from 2027, with plans to develop full-fledged degree programmes in the future. These programmes will be open to students from around the world, including those in the United States and India.

This marks a significant milestone for IIT Bombay, which is widely regarded as one of India's premier engineering institutions. The collaboration with SUNY Old Westbury aims to strengthen academic ties between the two countries and provide global educational opportunities.

Further details about the curriculum, faculty, and admissions process are expected to be announced in the coming months.
