Google Rebrands NotebookLM to Gemini Notebook, Integrates Deeper into AI Ecosystem

Google has announced the rebranding of its AI-powered research assistant, NotebookLM, to Gemini Notebook. The change brings the tool under the company's expanding Gemini portfolio, which includes the Gemini app and Gemini Live.

Originally introduced as Project Tailwind at Google I/O 2023 before launching publicly as NotebookLM, the tool has grown significantly. According to Google, it is now used by more than 30 million people worldwide.

Sources within the company stated that the rebranding is largely cosmetic. NotebookLM will receive a new name and logo, but existing notebooks, saved content, and features will remain unchanged. Users will not need to migrate or recreate any projects.

This move aligns NotebookLM with Google's broader AI ecosystem, signaling the company's commitment to unifying its AI services under the Gemini brand. No other functional changes were announced.
