Ghaziabad Police Bust Human Trafficking Ring, Rescue Newborn
The Tronica City Police in Ghaziabad have dismantled a human trafficking network, rescuing a one-month-old infant and arresting 13 individuals, including the alleged kingpins. The operation was based on a tip-off and involved local intelligence and CCTV footage analysis, according to police officials.
The case came to light after the infant's parents, both labourers, were allegedly approached by traffickers before the child was born. The parents initially considered selling the baby to buyers in Andhra Pradesh but changed their minds after the birth. However, on May 26, a woman named Pooja kidnapped the infant from the family's home and handed her over to an accomplice, Manoj. Police traced the baby and rescued her earlier this month.
This incident follows a similar racket busted by Delhi Police in Begumpur, Northwest Delhi, which operated out of a doctor's clinic. Authorities have not disclosed whether the two cases are linked.
The accused have been booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act. Investigations are ongoing to identify other potential victims and the broader network.
