Four dead in Bengaluru home; police investigate possible murder-suicide

Four members of a family were found dead in their home in Bengaluru's Kottigepalya area on Saturday morning, police said. The deceased have been identified as Mangalamma, 55, her mother Nanjamma, 68, her brother Satish, 50, and Mangalamma's son Prashanth, 34.

According to police, three of the victims — Mangalamma, Nanjamma, and Satish — were found with multiple chop wounds in one part of the house. Prashanth was discovered dead in a separate room. The incident came to light around 8.30 am when neighbours alerted the authorities.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Bengaluru West Division) Yatheesh N stated that initial investigations suggest a triple murder followed by suicide, though the exact sequence of events is still being determined. Forensic teams are examining the scene, and statements from neighbours are being recorded.

Police have not disclosed any potential motive or named any suspects. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination. Further details are expected as the investigation progresses.
