Raichur district removes 3.21 lakh names from electoral rolls after revision

The Raichur district administration has deleted 3,21,396 entries from the electoral rolls as part of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. The deletions were announced by Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer Poovitha S. at a press conference on Monday.

According to data shared by the DC, the district has a total of 13,93,163 voters. Among the deleted entries, 61,385 were found to be deceased, 1,87,941 had permanently shifted from their registered addresses, 30,733 were classified as absent voters, and 365 fell under other categories.

Compared to the 2025 electoral rolls, the draft rolls reflect a variance of 3,21,396 voters, which represents an 18.75% change.

Officials said the Special Intensive Revision is aimed at cleaning the electoral rolls by removing duplicates, ineligible entries, and updating the details of voters. The process also allows eligible citizens to register as new voters or make corrections to their existing entries.

The window for submitting claims and objections for the revision of voter lists is open from August 27 to October 22. During this period, citizens can file claims, request address updates, or submit objections through the official channels.

Prospective voters who will turn 18 by October 1, 2026, are eligible to apply for inclusion in the electoral rolls. They can submit Form 6 either online or through their local Booth Level Officers (BLOs).

Following the disposal of all claims and objections, the final electoral rolls will be published on October 27.

The Deputy Commissioner has urged the public to verify their details in the draft rolls and submit any necessary applications with proper documents within the stipulated time.

Assistant Commissioner of Raichur Sub-Division Hampanna Sajjan, District Election Branch Shirastedar Rishikeshi, and other officials were present at the press conference.
