Fire at Faridabad shoe factory doused after 12 hours; no casualties reported
A major fire broke out at a shoe manufacturing factory in Faridabad on Thursday morning, officials said. The blaze, which is suspected to have been caused by a short circuit, was fully brought under control after 12 hours of firefighting efforts. No casualties were reported as workers were not present at the unit at the time of the incident.
The fire began around 7:30 am at Guru Kripa Lifestyle in Sector 32, near Mewala Maharajpur Metro station. Fire tenders and personnel from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) from across Haryana were deployed to the site. A total of 21 fire tenders were used to combat the flames, which also spread to nearby buildings, prompting evacuations.
Faridabad police spokesperson Yashpal Yadav confirmed that an investigation has been launched into the incident. He stated that the blaze was brought under control by early evening. The cause of the fire is suspected to be a short circuit, but officials said the exact reason will be determined after a thorough inquiry.
The factory, which manufactures footwear, suffered extensive damage. However, due to the absence of workers, no injuries or loss of life occurred. The affected buildings outside the premises were evacuated as a precautionary measure. No further details about the extent of property damage or the number of people evacuated were immediately available.
