Eight Arrested in Gujarat and MP for Alleged Jaish-e-Mohammed Links

The Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) announced on Friday the arrest of eight individuals, seven from Gujarat and one from Madhya Pradesh, on suspicion of having links with the proscribed terrorist organisation Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM).

The ATS identified the accused as Ahmed Abdullah Gajiwala (19), Ibrahim Mohammad Husen Ghagha (30), Mudassir Abdullah Ghaziwala (22) from Palanpur in Banaskantha district; Zakariya Durani Mohammad Ammar Ghagha (21), Mufti Faujan Ismail Dauwa (40), and Mohammad Amin Shera (21) from Siddhpur in Patan district; Mohammad Abdul Rahman Savdi (22) from Chikhli in Navsari district; and Bilal Durani Mohammad Ammar Ghagha (18) from Dewas, Madhya Pradesh.

According to the ATS, the arrested individuals had established an active network of JeM in Gujarat and were in contact with handlers based in Pakistan. The agency did not provide further details about the nature of the alleged activities or the evidence gathered.

The arrests come as part of ongoing efforts by Indian security agencies to curb the activities of proscribed organisations. Legal proceedings are underway, and the accused are expected to be produced before a court.
