Chief Election Commissioner begins 3-day Jammu and Kashmir visit to engage voters and grassroots officials

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar arrived in Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday for a three-day official visit aimed at strengthening voter engagement and grassroots-level electoral preparedness.

Upon arrival at the Sheikh ul Alam International Airport, the CEC was received by Sanjeev Verma, Chief Electoral Officer of Jammu and Kashmir, along with Budgam Deputy Commissioner Athar Amir and other senior officials.

During his visit, Kumar will undertake various programmes across the Kashmir Valley, focusing on interactions with voters, electoral stakeholders, and field-level election machinery. He will also review ongoing electoral initiatives at the grassroots level.

Speaking to reporters at the airport, Kumar said, 'I will be interacting with voters across the beautiful valleys of Jammu and Kashmir, particularly with the grassroots-level booth level officers of Budgam district, who serve as the cornerstone of the Election Commission.'

On Monday morning, the CEC is scheduled to hold an interaction with voters, Booth Level Officers (BLOs), and other stakeholders in Budgam district. Officials stated that the visit is part of the Election Commission's ongoing efforts to enhance field-level preparedness, promote democratic participation, and raise awareness about the electoral process.

The visit underscores the Commission's commitment to engaging with citizens and election officials at the ground level to ensure smooth and inclusive elections in the region.
