CBSE Reports 99.7% Re-evaluation Results, Disputes Student's Claim of Minimal Marks Revision
NEW DELHI: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced that it has processed and declared outcomes for more than 99.7% of applications received for verification and re-evaluation of Class XII 2026 results. This statement comes in response to a social media post by a student who alleged that the re-evaluation process resulted in negligible mark increases.
On Sunday, CBSE officials refuted the claim made by Vedant Shrivastav, who posted a video stating that only two marks had increased overall and that no marks were revised in 'exchanged answer sheets.' The Board described his assertion as 'factually incorrect' and a 'blatant lie.'
According to CBSE, Shrivastav's marks in three subjects increased as follows: Mathematics from 46 to 47, Physics from 35 to 44, and Computer Science from 61 to 62. The total increase was 11 marks, with Physics alone showing a nine-mark rise. However, Vedant countered this, asserting that the nine marks in Physics were his original marks and were not a result of re-evaluation. 'CBSE is wrong on this,' he said.
CBSE officials stated that the results for applications under 'verification of issues observed and re-evaluation' have been released in batches since June 21. The remaining cases are in the final stages of processing and are expected to be declared within a few days.
The Board also drew a comparison with the timeline from 2025, noting that the declaration process began on June 27 and was completed by July 11 last year. This year's faster processing is presented as an improvement.
The clarification comes amid ongoing controversy over CBSE's on-screen marking (OSM) system, introduced for Class XII this year. Students and parents have reported issues such as blurred or cropped scanned answer-book pages, missing supplementary sheets, portal glitches, and delays in post-result services. CBSE has maintained that the marking scheme remained unchanged and that rescans and manual checks were conducted wherever necessary.
