Chennai's Kauvery Hospital deploys 5G ambulances for remote specialist monitoring
Kauvery Hospital in Chennai has launched a new fleet of 5G-enabled ambulances equipped with a Continuous Patient Monitoring System (CPMS). This system allows specialists at the hospital to track a patient's vital signs in real-time while the ambulance is in transit, and provide immediate guidance to paramedics on the scene.
The service was officially launched by A. Amalraj, Greater Chennai Police Commissioner, in the presence of Manivannan Selvaraj, Founder and Managing Director of the Kauvery Group of Hospitals.
The fleet consists of more than 30 advanced ambulances stationed across Kauvery Alwarpet, Vadapalani, Radial Road, and Maa Kauvery Radial Road. These ambulances have been deployed at key locations across Chennai to ensure rapid response during medical emergencies.
The integration of 5G connectivity enables high-speed, low-latency transmission of medical data, including heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, and other critical parameters. This allows doctors at the hospital to monitor the patient's condition continuously and issue instructions to the paramedic team, helping to stabilize patients even before they reach the hospital.
The use of telemedicine in emergency care is a growing trend worldwide. In a city like Chennai, where traffic congestion can delay hospital arrivals, such technology can significantly improve outcomes by enabling early intervention.
