BJP Educators' Wing Urges Tamil Nadu Government for Special TET Re-examination Amid Difficulty Concerns

The Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) Educators' Wing has called on the Tamil Nadu government to intervene after thousands of teacher candidates expressed distress over the high difficulty level of the recently held Special Teachers Eligibility Test (TET).

In a petition submitted to Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay, BJP Educators' Wing State Secretary Calvary N. Thyagarajan stated that the question papers for the two-day examination were significantly tougher than those of previous years.

According to the representation, numerous candidate teachers across Tamil Nadu have voiced deep concern regarding the nature of the test. Educators with years of classroom experience expected the evaluation to align with their teaching practice and the prescribed school syllabus, Thyagarajan noted.

"Instead, the questions were allegedly on a par with advanced, high-level competitive examinations, leaving a majority of the candidates unable to complete the paper fully and deeply distressed over their future prospects," the representation stated.

Emphasising the need to protect the welfare, job security, and mental well-being of the teaching community, the wing has urged the state government to take immediate action on humanitarian grounds. They have demanded either a re-examination of the Special TET or the award of adequate grace marks to compensate for the unusually tough paper.

Additionally, the wing has called for a relaxation in the qualifying pass marks and requested a swift, favourable announcement from the government to ensure the careers of these experienced teachers are not jeopardised.
