AYUSH PG Entrance Test: 49 Candidates Affected by Jaipur Power Outage, Retest Scheduled

The All India AYUSH Post-Graduate Entrance Test (AIAPGET) 2026 was conducted on [date], with 35,837 of the 36,979 registered candidates appearing for the examination in Shift 1 across 200 centres nationwide. However, a power outage at one centre in Jaipur disrupted the examination for a small group of candidates.

According to the National Testing Agency (NTA), 192 candidates were scheduled to appear at the Shri Satya Sai PG College centre in Jaipur. Of these, 49 candidates could not complete the examination due to the power failure. The remaining 143 candidates at the centre successfully completed the test. Nationwide, 35,788 candidates finished the examination, while 49 were affected by the disruption.

The NTA, which conducted the examination through its implementing agency Eduquity Career Technologies Private Limited, expressed regret over the inconvenience caused to the affected candidates. In a statement, the testing agency announced that the 49 candidates would be provided another opportunity to appear for the exam. The retest is scheduled for September 1, 2026, at 10 am at the Rajasthan College of Engineering for Women, Jaipur.

The NTA further stated that revised admit cards will be issued to the affected candidates, containing details of the new examination centre and timings. The agency has also set up helplines for candidates seeking clarification. Candidates can reach the NTA at 011-40759000 or 011-69227700, or write to the agency through its official communication channels.

AIAPGET is a national-level entrance examination conducted for admission to postgraduate courses in Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homoeopathy (AYUSH) programmes. The exam is held annually, and the NTA is responsible for its smooth conduct. Power outages and technical glitches during large-scale examinations have been a recurring concern in India, and the NTA has previously taken similar steps to ensure affected candidates are not disadvantaged.

In this instance, the NTA's swift response—announcing a retest within days—reflects an effort to maintain fairness and transparency in the examination process. The affected candidates are advised to monitor the NTA website and their registered email IDs for updates regarding the retest. The agency has assured that all necessary arrangements will be made to ensure a smooth conduct of the re-examination.

While the disruption affected a small fraction of the total candidates, the incident highlights the importance of reliable infrastructure in conducting national-level examinations. The NTA has not yet commented on whether steps will be taken to prevent such occurrences in the future, but candidates and educators alike will be watching closely.
