Andhra Pradesh commercial tax collections surge 16% in June 2026, driven by GST and enforcement

Andhra Pradesh recorded a 16% increase in commercial tax collections in June 2026 compared to the same month in 2025, amounting to ₹664 crore more. This continues the strong performance observed in April and May, rounding off the first quarter of fiscal year 2026-27.

Cumulative collections for the first quarter (April to June 2026) rose to ₹15,323 crore from ₹12,480 crore a year earlier, a growth of 22.78%. This was led by net Goods and Services Tax (GST) collections, which grew 25.07% from ₹7,978 crore to ₹9,978 crore, alongside a 21.28% rise in VAT on petroleum products, according to an official release by the Chief Commissioner of State Tax, Babu A.

Building on the 6% cumulative growth achieved in the previous fiscal year, the Commercial Taxes Department maintained its revenue mobilisation efforts. Net GST collections for June 2026 rose 21.35% year-on-year from ₹2,591 crore to ₹3,144 crore.

The net GST accrued to the state reflects consumption within Andhra Pradesh. The increase was attributed to improved tax compliance, stronger enforcement, enhanced revenue monitoring, and broader economic activity. This growth occurred against the backdrop of GST 2.0 rate rationalisation reforms, which simplified the tax structure and reduced compliance costs for businesses.

The Chief Commissioner also noted that AI-based data analytics and IGST reversals, AI-powered scrutiny, UPI-based analytics enforcement, DISCOM-linked registration verification, and Aadhaar-integrated expansion of profession tax generated significant incremental revenue, strengthening June 2026 collections.
