72nd National Film Awards 2026 Announced: Jury Headed by Jayaraj

The winners of the 72nd National Film Awards were announced today in New Delhi. The jury for this year's awards was chaired by acclaimed Malayalam filmmaker Jayaraj. The awards honour films certified by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) between January 1, 2024 and December 31, 2024.

The announcement ceremony, held in the national capital, recognised excellence in Indian cinema across multiple categories. The feature film categories include Best Feature Film, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Director, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Best Feature Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment, Best Film Promoting National and Social Values, and Best Child Artist.

Technical awards were also presented for Best Cinematography, Best Screenplay, Best Dialogue Writer, Best Production Design, Best Action Choreography, Best Make-Up Artist, and Best Costume Design. Music categories include Best Music Direction for Songs, Best Music Direction for Background Scores, Best Lyrics, and Best Male Playback Singer.
