17-year-old girl sexually assaulted near Porur, one arrested, two sought
The All Women Police arrested a youth on Friday for allegedly sexually assaulting a 17-year-old girl, and are searching for two more suspects in connection with the crime.
The victim, who had failed her Plus Two (Class 12) examinations and was preparing for re-exams, complained of physical discomfort to her parents on Thursday. They took her to a private hospital, where doctors found evidence of penetrative sexual assault and informed the police.
Police launched an investigation and provided assistance to the girl. During questioning, she said three persons had assaulted her. According to the investigation, she and a friend had become acquainted with some youths through social media. One of them invited the victim and her friend to his house near Kundrathur on the pretext of being unwell. Upon arrival, the accused took her on his motorcycle to a vacant plot near Gerugambakkam, where he called his friends. She alleged that all three assaulted her and then fled.
A senior police officer said efforts are underway to arrest the remaining two suspects.
