Southern Railway Cancels Trains on Madurai-Sengottai Route on Aug 12-13
Southern Railway has announced the cancellation of train services on the Madurai-Sengottai route for two days, affecting passengers travelling between these towns in Tamil Nadu. The cancellations apply to both special and express trains, with partial cancellation for one of the services.
According to an official notification, Train No. 06845 Madurai-Sengottai Special will be fully cancelled on Wednesday, August 12. On the same day, Train No. 16845 Erode-Sengottai Express will remain cancelled between Dindigul and Sengottai, meaning the service will operate only between Erode and Dindigul.
On Thursday, August 13, the return services will be similarly affected. Train No. 06846 Sengottai-Madurai Special will be fully cancelled. Train No. 16846 Sengottai-Erode Express will be partially cancelled between Sengottai and Dindigul, operating only from Dindigul to Erode.
The railway administration has not specified the reason for these cancellations in the public notice. However, such cancellations are often due to operational requirements, maintenance works, or unforeseen circumstances. Passengers are advised to check the current status of their trains before proceeding to the station.
These services are important for residents of the southern districts, as the Madurai-Sengottai line connects several small towns and is also used by pilgrims and tourists heading towards the Western Ghats. The special trains are typically operated during peak travel seasons or to supplement regular services.
Impacted passengers holding confirmed tickets for the cancelled trains will be eligible for a full refund. For partially cancelled trains, passengers travelling only within the cancelled segment will also receive a refund.
