Prashant Kishor Claims BJP 'Trembling with Fear' Over Bankipur Bypoll

Political strategist-turned-activist Prashant Kishor has made a strong statement regarding the upcoming Bankipur assembly bypoll in Bihar, claiming that the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is apprehensive about the electoral outcome.

Speaking to reporters in Patna, Kishor said, "The entire BJP is trembling with fear because they know that the people of Bankipur have seen their failures. This bypoll will be a referendum on the state government's performance." He further alleged that the BJP's nervousness is evident from its aggressive campaigning and reliance on star campaigners.

The Bankipur assembly seat fell vacant after the death of sitting BJP MLA Nitin Nabin. The bypoll is scheduled to be held on a date yet to be announced by the Election Commission. Bankipur, a key constituency in Patna district, has traditionally been a stronghold of the BJP, but recent anti-incumbency sentiments have made the contest interesting.

Political analysts point out that Kishor's comments are aimed at energising the opposition and testing the waters ahead of the next general elections. However, the BJP has dismissed his claims, with party spokesperson Rishikesh Upadhyay stating, "The BJP is confident of retaining the Bankipur seat. Prashant Kishor's statements are baseless and reflect his desperation for relevance."

The bypoll is expected to be a multi-cornered contest, with the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and the Congress also fielding candidates. The outcome will be closely watched as a barometer of political trends in Bihar.
