Nursing Student, 19, Stabbed 10 Times in Bhilai PG Room; Police Hunt for Suspect

A 19-year-old nursing student was stabbed to death inside her paying guest (PG) accommodation in Bhilai, Chhattisgarh, on Friday, according to police. The incident has drawn attention to safety concerns for women living alone in rental housing.

The victim has been identified as Khushi Sahu, a resident of Kumhi village in Bemetara district. She had moved to Bhilai about two weeks ago to pursue a nursing course at a private college and worked part-time at a cafe in Vaishali Nagar to support her studies.

She lived in a rented room in the Ramnagar area. A friend from her village had joined her five days ago and was staying with her. At the time of the attack, the friend had stepped out to use a common bathroom, leaving Khushi alone in the room.

Police said an unidentified man entered the room and assaulted Khushi with a sharp weapon, inflicting at least 10 stab wounds to her stomach, back, and hands. The attacker fled the scene before the friend returned. Upon finding Khushi lying in a pool of blood, the friend alerted the house owner, who informed the police.

Khushi was rushed to Supela hospital in critical condition but was declared dead on arrival, officials said.

A murder case has been registered, and a manhunt is underway for the suspect. Police are examining CCTV footage from the area and questioning several individuals to identify the assailant. The crime branch team has also been deployed to assist in the investigation.

The incident has sparked discussions about the safety of students, particularly women, living away from home. Local residents have called for better security measures in PG accommodations.

Further details are awaited as the investigation progresses.

This shifts legal focus from reactive takedowns to proactive platform architecture, making features that enable anonymity and automation a regulatory liability.
